Principals Report

The end of Term 3 is almost here, and holidays are fast approaching but there is still time to recognise the achievements of a busy and productive term. Our focus on reading and reading intervention is evidencing early success with many students making great progress thus far.

With term endings often comes change, and for us at Havenview Primary School that means we are farewelling two wonderful people. Firstly, after almost 3 years as our trusty School Business Manager, Mrs Leanne Wescombe has secured a position as the School Business Manager at Cooee Primary School. Her enthusiasm and dedication to our school has been exemplary, so although wishing her well, we do so with slightly downturned smiles as we will miss her. Additionally, since Term 2, we have very much benefitted from the knowledge of Mrs Michelle Pearce, but must also farewell her as she has decided upon a change in careers and will be leaving the department to pursue a family business opportunity. We thank Mrs Pearce for her work at Havenview Primary School, and as we wish her all the best for the next chapter in her life, we also know that she will be a loss to the Department. Farewells to some it might be, but we will also welcome back Mrs Fenton in Term 4, after her traipse around Australia.

A huge thank you to the whole school community for the smooth way they have negotiated the redevelopment. The noise and extra movement have the potential to be very disruptive, yet our staff and students have managed to ignore this, to still prioritise their learning. That has to be an Above and Beyond Star to the whole school. Well done!

Our end of Term 3 Assembly once again was a great opportunity to celebrate the fantastic learning our students have been doing this term. We will let you know early in Term 4 when the End of Year Assembly will be held so you can put that one in to your diary, and be ready to celebrate an exceptional year at HPS (and don’t we know how quick that will come about).

The final activity for Term 3 will be the Community Lantern Walk at 5pm on the last day of school. I thank the Parent Group and Ms Luck for making this opportunity happen for our school community.

I trust everyone has a great break and look forward to a productive Term 4.
