Principals Report
Winter has arrived and the cold and windy weather has certainly hit. Thank you, parents for taking that extra effort to ensure your children are still wearing school uniform despite the challenge of getting clothes dry etcetera. Just a reminder that we have some second-hand uniforms still available, if that is helpful, please call in to the office and speak to either Deb or Leanne.
A huge thank you to the Student Wellbeing Group who have worked with Ms Maartensz and are running activities in the undercover area, initially during lunch breaks on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and during wet weather. The enjoyment these activities have elicited, so far, has been visible on the faces of our students. Additionally, due to the previously mentioned colder weather, we have also purchased many new board games for our students to play in the Kookaburra café at lunch times. Twister, Guess What and colouring are the preferred choices this week.
A reminder that Havenview Primary School is a water only school. We were kindly donated some flavoured milks to Breakfast Club – and this may have caused some confusion. So, to clarify this, please do not send Fruit Boxes etcetera to school with your child; and know we will be working with Saputo to find a healthier option.
As you would be aware, our ways of reporting student achievement changed. And to keep our community informed, please be aware that the DECYP recently informed schools that the requirements around sharing Evidences of Learning for 2023 is now one piece of Evidence of Learning for English and Maths before the end of the year. The option of sharing evidences for HASS and Science is determined by individual schools. Havenview Primary will be sharing an Evidence of Learning for English this term; Term 3 will be Maths; and in Term 4, parents / carers will received an Evidence of Learning for History and Social Studies (HASS).
Parent Teacher conferences will be held in Week 9 (Monday 19– 22 June). This year we will be using a paper-based booking system, with booking forms being sent out in Week 7. Parents, please return a filled in booking form to your child’s classroom teacher. Teachers will then confirm your booking by sending home a booking slip.
