Athletics Carnival 2023
On Monday 20 February Havenview Primary School hosted an Athletics Carnival for students in Prep to Grade 6. The weather was sunny and warm, and students were in high spirits and aspirational to do their best in the events planned for the day. In the morning students in Prep to Grade 2 cheered on the Grade 3 to 6 Students who were competing in running events, some aspiring to be selected for the upcoming North-West Primary School Sports Association Athletics Carnival in Penguin.
After recess the oval filled with students competing in novelty events and sprints. Our Grade 5 and 6 students having the opportunity to demonstrate courage by taking on leadership roles across our novelty events. Students participated in a 50m sprint, egg and spoon race, sack race, tug-of-war, bean bag darts and a water relay. Our house captains of Pine (Green) and Wattle (Yellow) houses lead our houses through some loud chanting and cheering showing support for their houses. I would like to thank the house captains and 5/6 leaders for running novelty events, Jeremy our groundsman, students, staff and some parents for helping setup and pack up, our Parent Group for cooking and serving the barbeque, and parents/carers who came along to support students on the day. A special thank you to Izzy and her mum Missy for the homemade signs for Wattle and Pine and the other decorations.
