Welcome to our new look electronic newsletter and a huge thank you to Ms Leanne Wescombe and Mrs Deb Byrne for all their work in getting our newsletter online, whilst our preference is for our newsletter to now be electronic Parents can request paper copies by contacting the front office.

During week 2  of Term 2, Havenview Primary Students in years 3 and 5 are busy completing NAPLAN testing, for both cohorts of student this will be the first-time students have completed NAPLAN with no testing in 2020. This will take away some of the information we can get from NAPLAN as there will obviously be no growth data from year 3 to 5. Thankfully NAPLAN is only part of the data we use to inform our teaching. A big thank you to Ms Thompson and Mrs Costello and all staff who have helped our students with completing the testing.

This term there will be a new reporting process, during week 9 there will be     parent-teacher conference, parents will be encouraged to come in and discuss their child’s progress with their child’s classroom teacher(s). A new 9 point rating scale will be used to report student’s progress during Term 2 and this report will be available at the end of week 9. We will share more information re the 9 point scale as the term progresses.

COVID continues to impact on our school, Department of Education sites no longer notify parents if there are individual cases, there is a threshold for groups that if reached will see communication sent home. We have had a small number of staff and students absent as they have tested positive to COVID so I urge everyone in the school community to continue to be vigilant around COVID 19.

I have had some queries regarding unvaccinated Parents and Carers entering the school site, the guidelines currently state Parents and Carers can enter school sites, but must follow all site access requirements and COVID-safe measures, including only entering if feeling well, wearing a mask while on the school site indoors, maintaining a physical distance of 1.5 metres between adults, frequently handwashing and hand sanitising. Parents and Carers who are volunteering on site must however be vaccinated.

Once again I congratulate and thank the school community for the willingness to work with our school to ensure we are functioning in a COVID safe manner.
